Foundation Giving Information

We appreciate your interest in supporting the KE Foundation and want to make the process as easy as possible. There are a number of ways to make a gift besides direct contributions.

Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

(1) The age at which retirees must begin taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) has increased from 72 to 73.  It will increase to age 75 in 2033.  However, the age at which an IRA owner can take a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) remains at 70 1/2.  Kappa Epsilon Foundation, Inc. is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) organization that qualifies for a QCD.  A QCD is excluded from your taxable income.  Distributions must be made directly to the eligible charity and the maximum annual QCD limit is $100,000.  For those who are at least 73, QCDs count toward your required minimum distribution.  (2) Beginning in 2024, the QCD limit of $100,000 will increase annually by an amount to account for inflation.  This will allow you not only to increase your giving but also to ensure your giving keeps up with inflation.  Please consult your tax advisor to see if a QCD to the Kappa Epsilon Foundation makes sense for you!

Legacy Gifts

Making a gift in recognition of a loved one or a colleague is a lasting way to acknowledge and celebrate their life and accomplishments. Gifts can benefit the KE Foundation in general, support a specific program, or develop a named scholarship. Gifts can be a one-time contribution or to create an endowment. Contact the KE Office to discuss options and to complete the required form.

Securities

Gifts of appreciated securities or mutual funds to the KE Foundation can provide significant support for an area of your designation for the KE Foundation. Gifts of securities may be used to support the educational grants, scholarships, establishment of an endowment, provide unrestricted support or other learning opportunities and initiatives. Contact the KE Office to determine the best course of action in making a securities gift.

Estate Planning

In-kind gifts are donations of goods or services that can be made either in a donor’s lifetime or as part of an estate. Once fair market value is established, the gift should be eligible for tax donation. Contact the KE Office to determine the best course of action in making an estate gift.
