Overland Park, Kansas – The Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (KE) and the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education are pleased to announce that Patrick Campbell has been selected as the 2014 recipient of the Nellie Wakeman Fellowship. The Nellie Wakeman Fellowship was established in 1957 to encourage outstanding Kappa Epsilon members to pursue an advanced degree in a college of pharmacy graduate program in the pharmaceutical sciences.

Patrick is currently in his final year of the Doctor of Pharmacy, Pharm.D. Program, at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Upon graduation, Patrick plans to pursue his doctorate in Pharmaceutical Economics, Policy and Outcomes at the University of Arizona. His studies at the University also include service to the College of Pharmacy, as Treasurer of the Class of 2014 Executive Board and as a representative of the Student Interest Group for Inter-professional Education & Practice.

Patrick is an active member of KE’s Sigma Chapter on campus at the University of Arizona in Tucson (U of A). He has served as an officer in three positions and member of several committees. His duties as a KE Chapter Officer furthered the work of the organization, serving as Alumni Liaison, Rush Coordinator & Pledge Educator and Historian.  His committee work has benefited Breast Cancer Awareness projects, KE’s Pharmacy Career Opportunity Recruitment Project CORP (Pharm-CORP), KE’s Founders’ Day Program, and U of A’s Homecoming and Founders’ Day.

Recognizing the work and benefits of community service offered by professional organizations, Patrick is an active member of the Arizona Pharmacy Association, American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists, American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy Student Society, International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation, and the Pharmacy Quality Alliance. He has also been involved with the National Community Pharmacists Association and the Pediatric Pharmacy Organization at the U of A.

Patrick would tell you, “Being an active member in professional organizations allows for advocacy for the profession, professional networking and venues for mentorship. By participating in these activities, I will give back to the community that has supported me and hope to inspire future pharmacists and healthcare professionals.”

Together, we celebrate Patrick’s achievements and dedication to the field of pharmacy and extend our best wishes for a successful future that will benefit many.
