Ashlee Brunaugh awarded 2016 Nellie Wakeman Fellowship

The Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (KE) and the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education are pleased to announce that Ashlee Brunaugh has been selected as one of two 2016 Nellie Wakeman Fellowships recipients. The Nellie Wakeman Fellowship was established in 1957 to encourage outstanding Kappa Epsilon members to pursue an advanced degree in a college of pharmacy graduate program in the pharmaceutical sciences.

Ashlee is currently in her final year of the PharmD program at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) College of Pharmacy. Upon graduation, Ashlee plans to pursue her PhD in Pharmaceutics at UT, with a focus on developing novel formulations of biologics.

Ashlee is an active member of KE’s Xi Chapter on campus at UT. She has held several executive positions, including Vice President, Fundraising Chair, and Pledge Class Liaison.  Her efforts in these positions have benefited both the Xi Chapter and Austin, Texas community. Projects include updating new member education material, creating presentations on pharmacy for high school students as part of the Pharm-CORP program, and developing care packages for breast cancer chemotherapy patients.

Recognizing the work and benefits of community service offered by professional organizations, Ashlee is a member of several organizations, including American Pharmacist Association Academy of Student Pharmacists, Texas Pharmacy Association, and National Community Pharmacists Association. Her studies at the University also include service to the College of Pharmacy, as committee chair of the Pharmacy Council Student Affairs Committee and the Graduate Student Association Representative for the College of Pharmacy.  In addition, she has been recognized for her scholastic and leadership abilities through induction into Rho Chi and Phi Lambda Sigma.
